23-A Location: 359 Schoolhouse Road

This firehouse is the location of one of Monroe’s historic schoolhouses. It served for many years as a DPW garage. When the town expanded its DPW department, it sought larger accommodations for its growing fleet. Fire District #3 acquired this property through the township and expanded to fit its then allotment of trucks. The Living Quarters and Administration section of the building was added in the 80’s. The firehouse is a 5-bay two story building that houses an Engine, Rescue, Brush Unit, and Special Operations Trailer. This firehouse, up until recently, served as Fire District #3 Headquarters until the opening of the Centre Dr. firehouse.

23-B Location: 16 Centre Drive

This firehouse is the headquarters of Fire District #3. Built in 2006, its construction and staffing were deemed necessary to cut response times to the other side of the district, and provide the additional staffing the town as a whole needed for firefighters to safely and effectively operate at a fire scene. The firehouse is a 4-bay combination Fire/EMS building that houses a Ladder, Tanker, Reserve Engine, and Ambulance. The building is also home to Administration and Fire Prevention for Fire District #3. This station is the location of all District #3 Commissioner Meetings.
