The History of District #3
Our Department currently covers approximately 22.5 sq miles of Monroe Twp. The occupancies covered within our borders range from single family residential and active adult properties, to large scale warehouses that see hundreds of commercial trucks on a daily basis. We are also responsible for covering a portion of the New Jersey Turnpike along Exit 8A.
District #3 employs a full time career staff of 24 Firefighters, 8 Lieutenants, 1 Captain, and 1 Chief. We provide fire protection to our taxpayers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
On duty personnel primarily respond with both a Ladder company and an Engine company, but have specialized apparatus at our disposal should the need arise. Depending on the emergency call, other resources are utilized such as our rescue truck, tanker pumper, brush unit, or special operations trailer.
Each firehouse is staffed with one Lieutenant, and three Firefighters. They are trained in numerous forms of specialized rescue, and log training hours that far exceed the minimum standard for a firefighter for the State of New Jersey.
